Medway Council and Coombs to unlock multiple sites

Three sites in Medway add to our growing portfolio of housing developments

Following an open competition, we are pleased to announce our selection as Medway Council’s partner in the delivery of their HRA Phase 4 project.The project will unlock three constrained sites in the Twydall area of Medway. Reducing the potential for anti-social behaviour; redeveloping under-utilised garages; providing garden and amenity space whilst creating much-needed affordable housing are just some of the key aspirations of the project.

A total of 19 two-bed four-person houses will be provided as part of this design and build project across the sites along with nine one-bed two-person bungalows. One site also includes the renewal of existing playground equipment.

The carbon emissions of the new homes will be greatly reduced through careful design of the external fabric and use of highly thermally efficient construction along with efficient boilers, extraction fans and lighting. With an eye on robustness and longevity, all properties will be constructed using traditional materials, such as facing brickwork cavity masonry walls and tile roofs. The careful consideration and selection of materials will create a minimal requirement for ongoing maintenance.

These three sites for Medway Council add to our recent housing portfolio including Kingsmead for Canterbury City Council; three sites as part of Thanet District Council’s Affordable Housing Phase 2 programme and being selected as part of Hyde’s £2billion framework.

Medway HRA Phase 4 has been designed by HMY Architects, Evans & Langford and Hawden MEP Ltd who will continue as our design team.
